As a result of her first workshop on documentary art – hosted by DoubleTake Magazine in Amherst, MA in 2001 (which would be their last offering) – Kantor formally continued her interest as a documentarian. Returning to Fort Worth, she felt compelled to document the local artistic community. Being a middle-aged young photographer (as she names herself) interested in the creative practice as well as the processes of archiving and documentation, Kantor connected with a wide variety of artists in their studios to create a historical record of the community and its makers through personal portraits. She would often document the workshops and lectures she attended with the same documentarian eye.  Culminating in an exhibition in 2007, this portfolio speaks to Kantor’s interest in the photograph as a lasting document of creatives and their creative process, as well as her belief and self-awareness that the present moment becomes memory in an instant.
