In 2002 Kantor traveled to Prague for a photography study abroad program. She was interested in the subject of the aftermath of the Holocaust and Soviet rule in Central and Eastern Europe, and about the history of Terezin in particular. Since then she has returned on several occasions, most recently in 2012 when she was commissioned by the Schusterman Center for Jewish Studies (University of Texas at Austin) to photograph Terezin for an exhibition as a part of a symposium about Terezin. This body of work includes her exploration of long exposure photographs taken with pinhole and medium-format panoramic cameras.
