Since 2004, Loli has undertaken research and travels into the history of her family, having lost her parents early in her life and her brother in 1998. A process of acquaintance with these absent figures and realizing who they were as people uncovers new details of their lives and legacy. In turn, these realizations echo in Kantor’s own identity and legacy, finding the personal link beyond the shadows of the Holocaust. Archival research into her mother, father, and brother have led her to fill in missing narratives and uncover important places of their lives and of her early childhood. An attempt to retrace and reconstruct shapes the project, which brings together historical photographs, letters, and documents alongside Kantor’s images and writing. For Time is No Longer Now is envisioned as both an exhibition and a publication.
